Question:
What was he original posting to this one? Can someone let me know. I
am also interested in any med that is safe during pregnancy, although
I've heard it's better to be med free a few months before pregnancy
for better egg quality and the first trimester to avoid possible birth
defects.
Answer:
" have heard from my therapist that most bp women do very well off medication
during their pregnancy. She said the concern is more of after the child is
born. The mood swings that follow. Also, we discussed that additional child
care may be needed, as the mom may need more rest. She also felt interupted
sleep would be bad for me. I went through my pregnanies and toddler raising
years as an undx bp. I had many sleepless weeks. I just thought that was
normal dedicated mom stuff. (little did i know, i wasn't supermom, even though
very, very dedicated)
My advice is to make sure your SO is aware of the commitment you are both
making to this child and hope he will be a 50-50 partner in raising this
child. My husband, other than his 40-50 hour work week, was there all the
time and it still sometimes didn't seem like enough. I nursed my children
until they were
on solid food--- 9mo to a year old. Therapist said i most likely would not be
able to nurse a new baby, as i may need to go back on meds right away. Just
sharing some info here. Your therapist's views may differ.
