My 13 yr. old son is being treated for depression with Zoloft (successfully) and just started taking Ritalin for add. Treatment in teens?

Question:
My 13 yr. old son is being treated for depression with Zoloft (successfully) and just started taking Ritalin for add. Has anyone had experience with both drugs together?  Treatment in teens?  Studies on teen in n. nj or nyc metro area?

Answer:
My 15yoa son is currently taking Zoloft in addition to Adderall.  So far we have seem positive effects and he says he feels better (happier) these days. He is correctly taking 50mg, but we plan to slowly cut him back to 25 mg and see if that maintains.  We started him on it about a month ago due to the extreme frustrations he was facing now that he is in High School.  It's so much harder now and the teachers expect so much more from the students.  Fortunately we live in a great (responsive) school system and we are now working on getting him the help he really needs at school. On the Zoloft...be sure to read the info on drug interactions.  There are certain things they cannot take like Cimetidine (zantac) and Claritan.  (both of which my son take occasionally).  There may be others so educate yourself.
